Job summary

Amazon Music is seeking a senior engineering leader to drive architecture for high-scale services and AI-powered features. You will guide design decisions, collaborate with Applied Scientists, Product, and TPMs, and mentor engineers to excel in fast-moving AI environments.

Based in Culver City / Oregon area, the role emphasizes building production systems that blend GenAI, ML, and immersive media to enhance customer experiences.

Qualifications

• 7 years of direct experience working with engineering teams.
• 3 years of experience managing engineering teams.
• 3 years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• 8 years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full software, hardware, and networks development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements and explain software features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineers to strengthen their effectiveness and technical growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural decisions for services handling millions of requests under latency and cost constraints.
• Review code and design documentation for AI orchestration, LLM integration, and content generation pipelines.
• Work with Applied Scientists on model evaluation, prompt engineering, and quality metrics.
• Partner with Product and TPM on roadmap prioritization, launch sequencing, and measuring customer impact.
• Represent the team in technical reviews, operational readiness assessments, and strategic planning forums across the organization.
• Recruit, hire, and develop engineers who excel in fast-moving, ambiguous AI and ML environments.
• Guide engineers through mentorship, code reviews, and ownership of strategic projects.
• Help deliver production systems that combine GenAI, ML, and immersive media to create new customer experiences.
