Job summary

Peraton is hiring a Senior AI/ML Software Engineer to join our Cyber Solutions unit in Jessup, MD. As a Software Engineer on our team, you will support one of the largest enterprise-wide engineering contracts within the Intelligence Community.

This is a full-time position requiring 1880 hours of support per year; and work is performed at a customer location. As a Software Engineer on our team, you will work to help design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software solutions and prototypes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline with fourteen years of SWE experience; or four additional years substitute for degree.
• Must have DoD8570 IAT2 compliance and active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Eligibility for access to classified information following government security investigation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop software applications using Gradle, Java, Python.
• Gather and evaluate end-user and customer requirements.
• Write, test, debug and deploy code; perform code reviews to maintain quality.
• Troubleshoot defects and performance issues; mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with product managers, SMEs, and leadership on strategic initiatives.
• Explore LLM and AI integration opportunities; design interfaces to external tools.

Individual Capabilities/Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college or university plus fourteen (14) years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, complexity is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
• Must be compliant with DoD8570 IAT2.
• Position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

As a Software Engineer on our team, you will work to help design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software solutions and prototypes. You will also work in a Full Stack development environment requiring proficiency in LINUX and basic Networking skills. This will involve customizing access and interfaces with a Large Language Model (LLM) tailored for the customer and related requirement types and users.

Specifically you will:

• Design, develop software applications using Gradle Java, Python;
• Gather and evaluate end-user and customer requirements;
• Write, test, debug and deploy code;
• Perform code reviews to maintain quality;
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects and performance issues;
• Contribute to project planning;
