Job summary

Kiavi Funding, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to apply modern ML/AI across products and business problems. You will turn advances in AI into reliable systems with measurable impact, spanning document intelligence and multimodal applications in a regulated financial setting.

You will own the full ML lifecycle from framing problems to deploying production-ready systems, and build reusable AI components to support multiple teams rather than one-off solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, ML, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing ML solutions, including production-ready models.
• Strong programming and software-engineering skills, especially Python.
• Solid foundations in ML, statistics, algorithms, data structures, and experimental design.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience training or fine-tuning transformer-based, vision, or multimodal models.
• Experience with GPUs and understanding training/inference constraints.
• Ability to work with large, complex datasets.
• Proven ability to own open-ended problems from investigation to measurement.
• Ability to generalize solutions into reusable capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify high-impact ML opportunities with product, engineering, operations, and business teams.
• Design, train, fine-tune, and evaluate ML and deep-learning models.
• Work with foundation models across language, vision, and multimodal applications.
• Develop robust datasets, features, training pipelines, and evaluation frameworks.
• Run efficient experiments on GPU infrastructure and improve model quality, speed, and cost.
• Build reusable modeling components and evaluation frameworks for multiple teams.
• Establish clear interfaces to allow adoption of AI capabilities across teams.
