Job summary

Cohesity is seeking a highly skilled in-house lawyer to lead AI/ML legal matters, reporting to the VP of IP&P. You’ll partner with engineering, product, OSS, and privacy teams to shape compliant AI/ML development and deployment, ensuring robust IP protection and licensing discipline.

Requirements include 10+ years legal experience, a JD, and strong AI/ML expertise; a CS/engineering background and patent experience are preferred. Hybrid, Austin-based role with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of legal experience in law firms and corporate settings.
• Substantive AI/ML technical and legal expertise.
• Engineering or CS degree preferred.
• Registered patent attorney with in-house patent experience preferred.
• Open source licensing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI/ML legal issues across the company, coordinating cross-functionally.
• Influence product development plans for legal and compliance use cases.
• Collaborate with patent team to protect AI/ML innovations.
• Ensure OSS license compliance with internal teams.
• Develop AI/ML playbooks and training for stakeholders.
• Present updates to executives and the board as needed.
