Job summary

Cohesity is seeking a highly experienced attorney to join its in-house Legal team as the lead AI/ML counsel. Reporting to the VP of IP&P, you will own AI/ML legal matters, support product and engineering teams, and shape compliance across the AI/ML lifecycle.

You will work closely with product, OSS, data/privacy, and patent teams to develop protective IP strategies, ensure license compliance, and advise on risk mitigation in architecture and design.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of legal experience in law firms and corporate setting.
• Substantive AI/ML technical and legal expertise required.
• JD degree with excellent academic credentials.
• Open source licensing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be the lead AI/ML legal counsel coordinating cross-functionally within the legal team and with engineering, product, privacy, and security.
• Influence product development plans to ensure legal/compliance alignment for AI/ML use cases.
• Collaborate with patent team to implement IP protection strategy for AI/ML innovations.
• Negotiate AI/ML contracts and draft AI/ML playbook provisions.
• Develop scalable processes and tools to support AI/ML compliance across products.
• Provide AI/ML trainings to internal stakeholders and advise on regulatory implications.
