Job summary

4A Consulting, LLC is seeking a Senior AI/ML Platform Engineer to design, implement, operate, and improve a shared enterprise AI/ML platform. The role emphasizes platform automation, MLOps, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, observability, reliability engineering, and cost optimization across multiple state agencies.

The engineer will own core platform components end-to-end, improve developer productivity, establish engineering standards, mentor others, and ensure secure, scalable AI/ML services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS/Engineering or related field; master’s preferred.
• 10+ years in platform engineering, MLOps, or data/software engineering with production ML experience.
• Strong Python proficiency for production-grade software.
• Experience designing ML CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and cost optimization.
• Advanced Kubernetes experience for cluster management and autoscaling.
• Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
• Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure automation.

Responsibilities

• Pipeline Automation and CI/CD: design and maintain ML CI/CD pipelines with automated model validation, testing, canary deployments, GitOps, and faster delivery.
• Observability and Reliability: establish monitoring, SLOs, model drift detection, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Cloud Cost Optimization: monitor cloud spend, optimize GPU/CPU usage, autoscaling, and sizing.
• Developer Experience: develop internal SDKs/CLI tools, templates, APIs, and deployment workflows; maintain ADRs and onboarding docs.
• Platform Engineering and Operations: own architecture, maintenance, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
• Technical Leadership and Mentorship: code/design reviews, coaching, best-practices, architectural evaluations.
