Job summary

Thumbtack is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the ML Infrastructure team in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will lead multi-quarter roadmaps across AI platform and evaluation tooling, writing and shipping large-scale systems yourself and guiding peers.

You will partner with scientists and product teams to drive architectural decisions, ensure scalability, and optimize AI workloads with cost-aware practices.

Qualifications

10+ years of software engineering with leadership at staff level or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Build and evolve core AI platform capabilities enabling GenAI-powered apps across Thumbtack.
Design, develop, and deploy scalable tools and infrastructure for AI/ML workloads.
Work hands-on across backend services and AI model integrations.
Evaluate next-gen AI infrastructure frameworks and tools.
