Job summary

Sony Corporation of America is hiring a Senior Research Engineer for its U.S. R&D Laboratory with location options in San Jose, CA, Culver City, CA, or remote.

You will research and develop AI/ML-based image processing and computer vision technologies for Sony’s imaging products. The role requires a PhD or MS with significant experience, deep learning proficiency in Python/PyTorch, and ability to collaborate across global teams.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with 3+ years relevant experience considered.
• Strong fundamentals in deep learning, ML, or AI algorithms.
• Experience in image/video processing, camera ISP, computational photography, or CV.
• Publications and strong research skills.
• Proficient in Python and PyTorch; familiarity with C/C++ and Linux.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop novel AI/ML methods for image processing, computational photography, and CV.
• Design experiments across dataset creation, architecture development, training, and evaluation.
• Prototype ideas quickly to validate concepts for potential commercialization.
• Benchmark against state-of-the-art and enhance accuracy and robustness.
• Collaborate with US and Japan teams and document results.
