Job summary

Vizient is seeking a senior AI engineering professional to design, build, deploy, and support production AI capabilities for complex enterprise workflows. You will create AI-enabled applications that combine large language models, retrieval, structured and unstructured data, and APIs to deliver reliable, explainable results.

You will collaborate with domain experts, data teams, and software engineers to translate knowledge into maintainable solutions while establishing testing and observability

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience developing production applications using Python.
• Hands-on experience deploying AI/ML in production.
• Experience with LLM APIs or managed AI platforms.
• Experience with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, or agentic workflows.
• Experience building data-driven APIs and distributed services using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Experience developing automated tests and evaluation methods for nondeterministic AI behavior.
• Experience with embeddings, semantic search, vector retrieval, or related retrieval techniques.
• Experience with cloud-native development, CI/CD pipelines, containerized services, and production deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement production AI-enabled services and workflow components.
• Develop modular LLM and agentic capabilities with clear inputs, outputs, and evaluation criteria.
• Develop retrieval and grounding solutions using structured data and vector search.
• Combine deterministic processing, rules, retrieval, and model-based inference in workflows.
• Build APIs, services, orchestration components, and asynchronous processing for AI workloads.
• Develop automated evaluation and regression testing for LLMs and AI behavior.
• Instrument applications to trace inputs, results, model interactions, decisions and latency.
• Collaborate with domain experts to translate complex decision processes into software behavior.
