Job summary

Abbott seeks a Sr. Machine Learning Engineer to lead complex AI projects in oncology diagnostics. Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Statistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related quantitative field; or Master’s with 4+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years in statistics, computational biology, applied mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience with AI/ML algorithms.
• Mastery of advanced AI concepts: neural networks, deep learning, reinforcement learning.
• Experience with NLP, image processing, computer vision, or related areas.
• Experience with large language models, transformer architectures, and retrieval augmented generation.
• Strong Python programming with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or SCikit-Learn.
• Experience with open-source AI models.
• Excellent communication skills for varied audiences.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of AI/ML perspectives and technology affordance.
• Collaborate to refine requirements for ML/AI solutions in bioinformatics and data engineering.
• Provide technical and strategic leadership for AI-enabled software designs.
• Lead implementation and deployment of ML/AI solutions with engineers.
• Establish an Agile framework for rapid AI-driven delivery.
• Develop AI strategy to accelerate bioinformatics and data science outcomes.
• Build training resources and knowledge bases on AI/ML practices.
• Champion AI evangelism within biostatistics and data science groups.
• Mentor junior team members and share SME insights.
