Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Santa Clara, CA is seeking a Senior Staff AI/ML Engineer to lead end-to-end ML development and deliver scalable hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructure. You will work closely with ML scientists to bridge science and engineering and drive model governance and deployment practices.

In this role you will mentor engineers, establish coding standards, and ensure compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, SaMD guidelines while collaborating with business leaders on architecture strategy.

Qualifications

• Deep experience building ML infrastructure for experiment tracking and model serving.
• Experience with GenAI and AI development infrastructure (grounding, RAG, MCP, prompts).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GC), containers, CI/CD, and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end ML solutions from data ingest to deployment and monitoring.
• Architect scalable hybrid cloud/on-prem ML infrastructure with strong security.
• Collaborate with ML scientists and bridge science and engineering effectively.
• Implement robust CI/CD workflows and governance for AI models.
• Mentor ML and SW engineers; enforce coding standards and design reviews.
