Job summary

Optum Tech seeks a Senior AI/ML Engineer to design enterprise-scale generative AI applications and agentic workflows. You will lead multi-step reasoning systems, RAG pipelines, and full-stack solutions using React, Next.js, Python, and PostgreSQL, delivering context-aware health tech solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS or related field.
• 6+ years of software/AI engineering experience.
• 4+ years frontend React/Next.js and backend Python/Node.js.
• 3+ years relational database design with PostgreSQL.
• 2+ years end-to-end Generative AI and LLM applications in production.
• 2+ years designing and implementing RAG pipelines with semantic search and embeddings.
• 1+ year AI orchestration frameworks (LangChain/LangGraph/CrewAI) or agentic AI workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy enterprise-scale AI-powered solutions and GenAI apps.
• Develop agentic AI workflows, multi-step reasoning systems, and advanced RAG pipelines.
• Design and develop frontend with React/Next.js; build backend services with Python/Node.js and REST APIs.
• Build document ingestion, embeddings, semantic search, and advanced retrieval strategies.
• Design and optimize relational data models using PostgreSQL and integrate vector databases.
• Define end-to-end architecture spanning frontend, backend, AI, and data layers.
• Lead technical decision-making, design reviews, and code reviews; mentor junior engineers.
• Use enterprise AI tools to streamline developer workflows and automate tasks.
• Evaluate emerging AI trends to inform solution design and strategy.
• Collaborate with product/business teams to translate requirements into scalable designs.
