Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Director of AI/ML Engineering to build and scale the AI/ML function within Enterprise Digital Experience. You will lead a team across multiple scrum teams, expanding capabilities and ensuring responsible AI adoption.

You’ll drive enterprise-wide AI deployment, partner with Finance, HR, Legal, and Operations, and align data governance with strategic priorities in a remote-friendly role based in the U.S. with MN preference.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or 4+ years of equivalent software leadership experience.
• 12+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, or AI/ML engineering.
• 5+ years of direct people management leading software engineering organizations across multiple Agile/Scrum teams.
• Experience taking AI solutions from MVP to enterprise deployment and production scale.
• Experience partnering with business functions to redesign processes via AI-enabled solutions.
• Experience with enterprise cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable).

Responsibilities

• Scale the AI/ML engineering function to support enterprise growth.
• Lead AI/ML engineers across multiple Scrum teams.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions and data capabilities.
• Partner with stakeholders to transform corporate processes with AI.
