Job summary

Expedia Group is seeking a Senior AI/ML Data Engineer for Layla, our AI-native travel planning platform. You will design and operate robust data pipelines, ensure data quality and observability, and build data foundations for experimentation and model evaluation.

You will collaborate with Product, Analytics, and ML/engineering teams to deliver trustworthy data, enable self-serve analytics, and mentor peers in best practices across Layla and related products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong data engineering expertise with SQL and data modeling.
• Proficiency with Python for data engineering work.
• Own data quality, reliability, and observability for critical datasets.
• Familiarity with AI/ML systems in production and responsible AI concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable data pipelines powering Layla's AI-native experiences across Layla and Bellboy.
• Own data quality, reliability, and observability across critical datasets.
• Build and support data foundations for experimentation and model evaluation.
• Enable production use of AI/ML systems, including feature pipelines and evaluation datasets.
• Partner with Product, Analytics, and ML/engineering to turn questions into data and self-serve answers.
• Mentor other engineers on best practices and engineering excellence.
