Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise seeks a Principal Engineer to lead Generative AI & LLM Platforms in Finance. The role emphasizes hybrid work with 2 days in-office on average, driving multi-year AI roadmaps and production-grade architectures.

You will mentor engineers, design scalable systems, and push innovations from RAG to tool-calling workflows. The candidate should have 15+ years in the field, advanced degrees, deep Python/Golang expertise, and hands-on AWS/cloud-native experience.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, ML, AI, or related field
• 15+ years of industry experience in relevant roles
• Proven technical leadership with cross-team influence
• Strong Python and Golang hands-on proficiency
• Experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, and monitoring
• Knowledge of transformer-based LLMs, tokenization, embeddings and prompt engineering
• Experience building production-grade Generative AI systems and safety mechanisms
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead through influence

Responsibilities

• Develop technical strategy and multi-year product roadmaps for AI platforms
• Evaluate emerging technologies and drive customer-focused innovation
• Design production-grade LLM architectures with agents and tool-calling workflows
• Lead prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and model customization
• Ensure guardrails, privacy, bias, and safety in deployments
• Build scalable, low-latency, multi-tenant distributed systems
• Drive observability, SLOs, incidents, capacity and cost management
• Mentor teams and lead cross-functional initiatives
• Enable rapid prototyping and agile delivery of features
