Job summary

Enlighten is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance foundational AI integration frameworks and agentic platforms. You will design Python-based components, orchestrate Kubernetes deployments, and build MCP servers with reusable AI skills to safely interact with databases, microservices, and external APIs.

You will collaborate across teams to expose their Java APIs to AI agents, implement strict guardrails for data privacy and prompt safety, and contribute to automated testing pipelines for

Qualifications

• U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required
• 9+ years in software engineering focused on Python backend
• Kubernetes experience deploying containerized workloads
• Experience integrating LLM APIs or open-source models
• Experience designing enterprise APIs, RESTful services, and microservices
• Experience with configuration management tools (Git, CI/CD, Docker)
• Comfortable using Linux command line
• Previous tech lead/mentor/manager experience
• Hybrid work in Columbia, MD office 1–2 days per week

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Python-based components for core agentic platform
• Deploy, manage, and scale apps within Kubernetes environments
• Build MCP servers and reusable AI 'skills' library for tool interactions
• Collaborate with teams to expose Java APIs to AI agents
• Implement enterprise AI guardrails for privacy, scrubbing, defense, and validation
• Maintain testing pipelines for non-deterministic AI outputs
• Troubleshoot and perform under deadline pressure in a fast-paced setting
• Mentor and guide engineers, balancing hands-on work with leadership
