Job summary

BMC Software, Inc. is seeking a Principal AI-First Product Manager to drive the strategy for AI-enabled AMI Platform capabilities across mainframe operations, data, development, and security.

You will translate customer problems and AI capabilities into differentiated, trustworthy products, leading 0-to-1 through launch, adoption, and measurable business impact in mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• Extensive product-management experience in enterprise software with strategy setting and cross-team delivery.
• Proven ownership of AI, generative AI, agentic AI, intelligent automation, or similar complex products.
• Strong working knowledge of LLM-based systems, grounding, agents, orchestration, and evaluation.
• Understanding of data quality, permissions, metadata, telemetry, and knowledge architecture.
• Track record translating ambiguous problems into strategy, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.
• Experience taking 0-to-1 products from discovery through launch and iteration.
• Excellent customer discovery, analytical, prioritization, and executive communication skills.
• Ability to influence senior leaders without formal authority.
• Strong commercial judgment including business cases, market analysis, packaging, and pricing.
• Comfort in mission-critical enterprise environments with trust and security focus.

Responsibilities

• Define a clear product strategy and roadmap linking AMI Platform investments to outcomes.
• Lead customer discovery with mainframe and enterprise AI stakeholders and convert insights into bets.
• Shape AI-native experiences including agents, coordination, and knowledge grounding.
• Partner with Engineering, UX, Security, Data Science, and other teams to deliver scalable platform capabilities.
• Define measurable success across value, adoption, reliability, and cost.
• Develop governance, explainability, and human-in-the-loop controls for enterprise use.
