Job summary

Select Source Solutions in the United States seeks an AI Developer IV to join the Product and Services team. This senior, hands-on developer will build production AI solutions for federal scientific and environmental programs in a remote work arrangement.

You will work with scientific data, mission documentation, and researchers to deliver robust AI systems with strong engineering standards, ensuring accuracy and provenance in every release.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience including production deployments
• Experience with scientific/geospatial data in a professional or research setting
• Experience collaborating with scientists or domain experts
• Strong Python proficiency with NumPy, pandas, xarray
• Experience with LLMs, prompts, tools, and structured outputs
• Experience building RAG/knowledge-based solutions with embeddings
• Experience in federal or regulated environments (data security, compliance)
• Experience building APIs/services (FastAPI/Flask)
• Experience deploying AI on major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Experience with CI/CD tooling and infrastructure as code
• Fundamentals: testing, Git, code reviews, documentation
• Strong cross-functional communication

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy production AI solutions for federal programs
• Apply AI to scientific, geospatial, and Earth observation data
• Develop RAG and knowledge pipelines with embeddings
• Collaborate with scientists to translate research questions into AI systems
• Validate outputs for accuracy, provenance, uncertainty, reproducibility
• Develop agentic workflows with tools and orchestration
• Integrate LLMs into apps via APIs/SDKs
• Build APIs and services exposing AI capabilities
• Create AI-driven analytics for operational visibility
• Implement responsible AI with human oversight and auditability
• Deploy AI services in the cloud using IaC and CI/CD
• Monitor, log, and guardrail AI observability and safety
• Write clean, tested, documented code and perform reviews
• Perform other duties as assigned
