Job summary

Select Source Solutions is seeking an AI Developer IV to join the Product and Services team in a remote capacity. You will design, build, and deploy production AI solutions for federal scientific and environmental programs, working with Earth observation data and mission documents.

You will lead with strong production engineering, apply LLMs and generative AI, develop RAG pipelines, APIs, and cloud services while maintaining accuracy, provenance, and auditable practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience with production deployments.
• Experience with scientific or Earth observation data in professional or research settings.
• Proficient in Python and scientific Python stack (NumPy, pandas, xarray).
• Hands-on with LLMs, generative AI, prompts, tool calling, and structured outputs.
• Experience building RAG/knowledge-based solutions with embeddings/vector DBs.
• Familiar with cloud platforms and infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and security.
• Strong collaboration with scientists and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy production AI solutions for federal programs.
• Apply LLMs to geospatial and Earth observation data and integrate APIs.
• Develop RAG and knowledge retrieval pipelines, embeddings, and vector search.
• Work with scientists to translate research questions into AI systems.
• Validate outputs for accuracy, provenance, and reproducibility.
• Develop agentic workflows with tools, orchestration, and multi-step reasoning.
• Write clean, tested code and participate in code reviews.
