Job summary

Lantern is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design, develop, and scale Generative AI and agentic systems. You will own production LLM-powered applications, shaping architecture and best practices across engineering leadership, product, clinical operations, and data teams.

You will lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and influence how Lantern builds AI at scale in a regulated healthcare environment. The role emphasizes collaboration with leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production AI/ML systems.
• 2–3 years focused on LLM/GenAI applications.
• Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals.
• Hands-on with LLM APIs and prompt engineering.
• Experience with RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and hybrid retrieval.
• Healthcare data or regulated environments a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver production LLM-powered capabilities, including advanced retrieval and multi-document reasoning.
• Own prompt engineering strategy and versioned pipelines.
• Lead embedding models, vector DBs, and hybrid retrieval systems; improve retrieval quality.
• Define LLM evaluation frameworks and guardrails for healthcare compliance and safety.
• Evaluate models and lead production deployment of agentic systems; mentor engineers.
