Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer to design, develop and deploy AI software components, including foundation model training, inference, agents, and governance. You will build scalable AI systems with a strong emphasis on reliability and security across a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields with required AI/ML experience.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related fields with required AI/ML experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies like AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, PyTorch, VectorDBs.
• Optimize foundation model performance: cost, latency, throughput and scalability.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap for AI systems.
• Own end-to-end architecture for complex AI systems with maintainability and governance.
• Define and maintain SLOs for AI reliability including latency and model drift.
• Collaborate with infra to optimize GPU/TPU utilization and model inference pipelines.
• Lead cross-functional technical reviews for new AI deployments; ensure security and compliance.
• Mentor senior engineers on scalable design and production translation.
