Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 5 in Richmond, VA to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team. You will work on AI-powered products, train and deploy foundation models, and optimize multi-model pipelines.

The role involves collaborating with engineers, researchers, and PMs to deliver scalable AI systems while managing throughput and cost. You will participate in governance, tooling, and technology strategy, and mentor senior engineers to elevate the team’s technical maturity

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus at least 6 years of AI/ML experience, or Master's degree plus 4 years.
• At least 6 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
• Experience leading development AI systems and cloud deployment on major platforms.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products for associates and customers.
• Design and support AI software components including model training and inference pipelines.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech such as AWS, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch.
• Invent foundation model optimization techniques for performance, cost, and latency.
• Contribute to strategic vision and long-term roadmap of AI systems at Capital One.
• Design and optimize multi-model orchestration pipelines integrating LLMs and domain models.
