Job summary

SMBC is seeking a senior software engineer to own the end-to-end design and delivery of AI/ML and LLM-based solutions across Fixed Income trading, risk, and client workflows.

You will translate complex trade lifecycle processes into intelligent automation, define scalable AI capabilities within the FICC technology ecosystem, and lead engineering teams to align AI initiatives with trading, risk, and regulatory priorities.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of hands-on software engineering in Fixed Income and capital markets front office systems.
• Experience designing and implementing AI/ML or LLM-based solutions, including agentic architectures and RAG pipelines.
• Deep understanding of trade lifecycles including capture, P&L, risk, settlements, and regulatory reporting.
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern AI frameworks (LangChain, Vertex AI).
• Expertise in enterprise architecture patterns (microservices, messaging).
• Experience designing scalable data pipelines across multiple front office systems.
• Experience integrating AI into legacy financial ecosystems for automation and efficiency.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams and collaboration with trading desks, risk, and product leaders.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for translating complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI-Driven Transformation of FICC Front Office Platforms.
• Own the design and delivery of AI/ML and LLM-based solutions to enhance trading, pricing, and risk workflows across FICC.
• Translate complex trade lifecycle processes into intelligent automation and decision-support capabilities.
• Architect AI capabilities within the FICC Technology Ecosystem and define scalable, cloud-native architectures.
• Provide technical leadership across engineering teams and ensure alignment with business priorities and regulatory commitments.
