Job summary

SimplePractice, a health-tech company, is hiring an AI Developer Foundations engineer. You’ll work on a Rails monolith, shaping how AI is used across engineering, product and design, and defining conventions, context reading, and gating for AI artifacts.

Reporting to the VP of Technology, you’ll code daily and help engineers adopt standardized practices, with opportunities to collaborate across PMs, designers, and EMs.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years building and maintaining production software.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Own the context layer agents read: rules files, docs conventions, grounding data.
• Publish standards for prompting coding agents and providing context.
• Define review gates for AI-generated artifacts.
• Turn prototypes into supported, scalable workflows.
• Evaluate models, harnesses, and vendors against criteria.
• Collaborate with PMs, designers, and EMs during handoffs.
• Create docs, examples, and office hours to educate the squad.
• Define boundaries for autonomous AI vs human oversight.
