Job summary

Expedia Group in Austin seeks an AI Engineer III to own and evolve complex data products from design through deployment and production support. You’ll ensure robust data capabilities for travelers, partners, and internal teams.

You will apply modern engineering practices and use AI as a co‑pilot across the software development lifecycle, clarifying requirements, exploring designs, accelerating coding, and improving testing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience owning data products with demonstrated impact.
• Proven experience delivering at least one end-to-end service using AI tools (Claude, Codex, Copilot).
• Proficiency in Java or Scala with strong CS fundamentals and API design experience.
• Experience with data pipelines (batch and streaming) and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve complex, business‑critical data products end to end from design to deployment and production support.
• Apply modern engineering practices and use AI as a co‑pilot across the SDLC to clarify requirements and improve quality.
• Collaborate with partners across engineering, product, data, and business to surface trade‑offs and drive simple, resilient solutions.
• Design and integrate services, APIs, and data models for easy consumption by humans and AI systems.
• Share knowledge and mentor others through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions.
