Job summary

Openkrill is seeking a strong AI engineer to lead the chat-team’s technical direction. You will own the system design of day-to-day projects while writing production Python and guiding junior developers through design reviews and best practices.

The role focuses on agentic coding workflows, evaluating prompts and models, and reducing complexity with clear abstractions to improve reliability, observability, latency, and cost in chat systems.

Qualifications

• Approximately 4-5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including typed, maintainable production code.
• Experience designing, delivering, and operating production systems.
• Ability to create useful abstractions while keeping systems simple.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical design and delivery of chat-team projects.
• Shape engineering priorities, standards, and day-to-day technical decisions.
• Turn product requirements into simple, maintainable system designs.
• Write production Python and remain closely involved in implementation.
• Review pull requests for correctness, maintainability, test coverage, and overall design quality.
• Mentor other engineers in agentic coding workflows and best practices.
• Diagnose production issues across application code, agent workflows, prompts, models, data, and infrastructure.
