As a Senior Engineer/Architect in our team, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the design and development of our federated AI platform, focusing on building automation solutions that empower SMB retailers to succeed. As an early engineer, you will lay the blueprint for a federated platform (identity, data, interfaces, protocols, privacy, and security) that will bind different aspects of our platform into a single customer interface. You'll lead our team of developers in designing and developing new features and services, setting the standard for excellence in craftsmanship and innovation. If you're passionate about leveraging technology to drive real-world impact, and if you're ready to roll up your sleeves and build something extraordinary, then this is the role for you. You craft solutions that balance the tradeoffs between product goals and technical solutions in AI technologies like RAG, LLM, Llamaindex, and web technologies like React, Next.js, and building on rich APIs in Node.js and Python. You will also have a strong demonstrated understanding of AI technologies like Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing (NLP), OpenAI, prompt engineering, RAG-based LLM applications (e.g., Llamaindex). You can proactively identify areas of friction, including interpersonal issues and technical debt, and encourage and enable the team to resolve it before it becomes a long-term problem.

Responsibilities

1. Dive deep into designing and coding new features and services that automate key processes for SMB retailers, driving efficiency and productivity.
2. Lead our team of developers from the front lines, providing hands-on guidance and mentorship to ensure that our codebase is clean, scalable, and maintainable.
3. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, driving product innovation and customer satisfaction.
4. Own the end-to-end development process for our technology platform, from concept to deployment, ensuring that we're delivering high-quality features and services on time and on budget.
5. Stay ahead of the curve on emerging technologies and trends in automation, exploring new tools and techniques to keep our tech stack cutting edge.
6. Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty when needed, whether it's writing code, debugging issues, or optimizing performance.
7. Establish and enforce best practices for software development, ensuring that our codebase is clean, scalable, and maintainable.

Requirements

1. Extensive Full Stack experience (7-10 years) designing and coding new features and services in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
2. Strong expertise (2-3 years) in working with LLM models, prompt engineering, and building RAG-based frameworks (e.g., Llamaindex, Langchain) for chatbots. Hands-on experience in ML, training models for Computer Vision, OCR, and NLP is an advantage.
3. Deep expertise in backend development with Python and Node.js, and experience with databases like Elasticsearch and Postgres, including building REST APIs.
4. Strong working knowledge of Elasticsearch, especially in building AI applications like vector databases.
5. Experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure and GCP, and DevOps practices is beneficial.
6. Good to have - frontend development experience with React, Next.js, Typescript, Vue.
7. Experience managing a small engineering team, familiar with Agile or Scrum methodologies, with strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
8. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
9. Experience in building and scaling SaaS applications in early-stage startup environments, with a willingness to wear multiple hats.
