Job summary

Cboe Global Markets in Chicago seeks a Senior AI Engineer to lead integration of AI into core operations and develop AI-native products. You will own the full lifecycle from scoping with business stakeholders to hands-on design, development, and deployment of production-grade systems.

You will build reusable services for agents, mentor engineers, and help establish the standard for AI at Cboe, translating strategy into concrete technical outcomes with focus on reliability and impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent experience.
• 7–10+ years of software engineering experience with increasing seniority.
• 3+ years in applied AI (building agents, context/harness engineering).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy production-ready AI agents and agentic systems across internal platforms.
• Own scoping and discovery for AI initiatives with business stakeholders.
• Build and enhance Cboe's agentic control plane.
• Apply context engineering principles (prompt design, memory architecture, retrieval strategy).
• Establish and uphold best practices for agent development, evaluation, and observability.
• Drive architecture and design decisions for agentic systems across teams.
• Develop benchmarking and evaluation frameworks for AI performance.
• Translate AI strategy into executable technical work.
• Lead design reviews and mentor engineers; set engineering standards.
• Produce technical documentation including scoping artifacts and tests.
