Job summary

EchoStar is seeking a Principal DevOps/Platform Engineer to drive AI-enabled DevOps across the SDLC in Christiansburg, VA. The role focuses on designing cloud environments, Kubernetes deployments, and scalable platforms across AWS and GCP, with a strong emphasis on automation, observability, and reliability.

The engineer will lead CI/CD, GitOps initiatives, and SRE practices, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to architecture decisions while traveling to HQ in Denver, CO as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of platform engineering or DevOps experience.
• Experience designing, deploying, and managing large-scale Kubernetes environments (multi-cluster/multi-tenant) using EKS/GKE.
• Strong knowledge of cloud architectures, SLOs/SLIs, and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Drive AI-enabled DevOps by integrating Generative AI tools into the SDLC for code generation, testing, incident analysis, and productivity improvements.
• Design and implement cloud-based application environments across AWS and GCP to support scalable, high-availability software applications; contribute to Kubernetes-based deployments and environment configuration.
• Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks to improve software quality, deployment efficiency, and system reliability.
• Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to integrate automated testing, performance testing, and security validation into CI/CD.
• Design and execute load, performance, reliability, and regression testing strategies for distributed and cloud-native applications.
• Participate in defining SLOs/SLIs and incident response procedures to improve application stability.
