Job summary

Compass is seeking a Senior Engineer for the Developer Intelligence pillar to help accelerate engineering velocity through AI-enabled workflows and observability. You will build reliable, scalable platform components that collect and analyze engineering signals across CI/CD, source control, and testing environments.

You will own the implementation of AI-assisted tooling, integrate LLM APIs, and contribute to automated code reviews and incident triaging.

Qualifications

• BS in CS, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience delivering complex components autonomously.
• Proficiency in Go and Python; experience with telemetry pipelines and AI workflows is highly preferred.
• Experience with data pipelines, observability infrastructures (logs, metrics, traces), and developer metrics frameworks.
• Experience embedding AI models, LLM APIs, or automated orchestration tools into pipelines or triage workflows.
• Experience deploying and operating software components on major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Responsibilities

• Deliver and implement solutions for Developer Intelligence systems, focusing on telemetry collection, observability instrumentation, and AI-assisted tooling.
• Analyze workflows and SDLC feedback loops to design testable, maintainable components addressing architectural gaps.
• Build subsystems to collect, correlate, and operationalize data from CI/CD, source control, testing infra, and developer workflows.
• Write high-quality, stable code to integrate AI tools into engineering workflows, including automated reviews and incident triage.
• Collaborate with teammates and stakeholders to balance requirements, unblock projects, and participate in design reviews.
• Identify bottlenecks, automate processes, and keep codebases clean and maintainable.
• Mentor peers, provide code reviews, and train newer team members on platform architecture.
