Job summary

Turing is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python/TypeScript) for a 3-month independent contractor engagement. Remote - North America, ~40 hrs/week with Pacific Time overlap.

You will design rubrics for preference data, label data with high quality, and build data pipelines alongside AI researchers and engineers. Ideal candidates have strong Python or TypeScript skills, experience with data collection or rubric creation, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with data labeling and rubric design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated high-taste judgment and clarity in summaries.
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with bias toward shipping.

Responsibilities

• Design, refine, and iterate rubrics and evaluation criteria for preference data.
• Review and label data with a high bar for quality.
• Build and maintain pipelines and infrastructure supporting data generation, collection, and evaluation workflows.
• Synthesize findings from data work into clear write-ups and actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate qualitative judgment into scalable processes.
