Job summary

EY seeks an AI Systems Engineer to own the stateful backbone of EY’s AI-native platform, including data stores, memory tiers, and event streaming that hold and move state across cloud, on-prem, edge, client-managed, and air-gapped environments.

You will ensure durability, consistency, and recoverability while making state portable and multi-tenant, enabling governance and lineage for downstream AI capabilities across EY’s Hybrid AI Runtime.

Qualifications

• 8+ years operating production data infrastructure, streaming systems, or database platforms at scale.
• Hands-on expertise with relational databases and caching, including HA, replication, and backup/recovery.
• Exposure to AI/ML data patterns — embeddings, retrieval, feature/state stores for agentic workloads.
• Production experience with vector and/or graph databases in AI/ML contexts.
• Experience with event streaming and messaging (Kafka/NATS) and change data capture.
• Experience with stream processing (Flink) and schema governance.
• Experience running stateful systems on Kubernetes.
• Ability to define clean ownership boundaries and data/schema contracts with platform, trust, runtime, and delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the memory and data stores across environments and tenants.
• Own event streaming and async messaging across platforms.
• Own data durability, consistency, and recoverability with cross-environment replication.
• Build and operate streaming and CDC pipelines with schema governance.
• Make state multi-tenant and portable across cloud, on-prem and air-gapped environments.
• Provide the data and lineage substrate for governance, observability, and AI capabilities.
