Job summary

WEX is seeking a Senior AI Data & Database Engineer to modernize SQL Server systems and build AI-ready data infrastructure. You will work on datab ase modernization, performance engineering, data pipelines, and AI-native retrieval services.

This role spans legacy refactoring, event-driven patterns, and embedding pipelines for AI applications. You will collaborate across data platform and AI/ML teams, implement tests and validation, and contribute to AI tooling and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• Proficient in SQL Server, T-SQL, and performance tuning.
• Experience modernizing legacy databases and decomposing logic into services.
• Strong data engineering experience across ETL/ELT, APIs, and events.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize complex SQL Server procedures and data access patterns.
• Design migrations while preserving data integrity and compatibility.
• Build embedding pipelines, vector stores, and retrieval services for AI apps.
