Bentley Systems is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help modernize large-scale engineering software using AI-driven pipelines. The role sits hybrid in Exton, PA, working at the intersection of software engineering, AI systems, and modernization tooling.

The engineer will shape AI workflows, collaborate with product leaders and architects, and contribute to reusable modernization frameworks across Bentley’s portfolio.

Qualifications

• Ownership of production systems in software development.
• Experience building, maintaining, or modernizing complex software applications.
• Understanding of performance, reliability, scalability, testing, and failure modes.
• Experience applying AI, ML, inference pipelines, or intelligent automation to real-world problems.
• Systems-oriented mindset to bring structure to ambiguous technical challenges.
• Experience designing pipelines, feedback loops, iterative systems, or large-scale developer tooling.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI-driven transformation pipelines for large-scale legacy codebases.
• Develop AI workflows that support code understanding, refactoring, validation, and modernization.
• Modernize desktops, simulation, and engineering apps into cloud-native services.
• Improve quality and speed via loop engineering to convert/test/correct code.
• Evaluate AI systems for accuracy, reliability, performance, observability and cost.
• Create automated tooling, validation frameworks and testing strategies.
