Job summary

UMATR is seeking a Senior AI Architect to design the foundations for enterprise AI systems, spanning data, retrieval, model integration and governance in regulated environments.

You will combine hands-on prototyping with technical direction, influencing architecture decisions across engineering teams and partnering with Security, Product and Data to deliver scalable, compliant AI solutions.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in software engineering or ML engineering.
• Hands-on experience designing and building AI systems end-to-end.
• Strong understanding of modern AI architecture.
• Experience architecting systems in enterprise or regulated environments.
• Security, governance, auditability and compliance knowledge.
• Ability to move between high-level architecture and hands-on prototyping.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

We’re partnering with a technology company building AI capabilities for enterprise and regulated environments. They’re looking to hire a Senior AI Architect to design the foundations for how AI systems are built, integrated, evaluated and governed across the organisation.

This is a senior individual contributor role combining hands-on architecture and prototyping with broader technical direction. You’ll work across the entire AI stack - from data and retrieval through to model integration, agent orchestration, evaluation and production deployment.

What You’ll Do

• Design the foundational architecture and patterns for enterprise AI systems.
• Build and prototype core components across data ingestion, retrieval, model integration and agent orchestration.

• Build security, auditability and compliance into AI architecture from the outset.
• Design systems that can operate reliably within highly regulated environments.
• Evaluate new AI technologies, models and architectural approaches and determine where they should be applied.
• Work closely with Engineering, Product, Security and Data teams to turn AI opportunities into scalable technical solutions.
• Clearly communicate architecture decisions, trade-offs and technical direction across the organisation.

What We’re Looking For

• 5-8 years of Software Engineering or Machine Learning Engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience designing and building AI systems end-to-end.
• Strong understanding of modern AI architecture
• Experience architecting systems within enterprise or regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of security, governance, auditability and compliance requirements.
• Experience defining architectural patterns and technical standards used by wider engineering teams.
• Strong software engineering and system design fundamentals.
