Job summary

Bread Financial seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer to design and deliver agentic AI capabilities, including policy enforcement, reasoning, orchestration, and safety controls. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field required.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience incl. 2+ years in AI/ML or agent-based systems.
• 3+ years IaC experience (Terraform or Ansible).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement multi-agent frameworks and LLM-powered autonomous systems.
• Develop policy enforcement points and memory architectures with PII minimization.
• Build agent state, memory, and tool-routing components for reliable workflows.
• Implement ReAct, CoT, and ToT reasoning loops with evaluation signals.
• Create deterministic tool-chaining with fallbacks, idempotency, retries and circuit-breakers.
• Scale production agent platforms on Kubernetes with telemetry and SLOs.
• Ensure safety controls, grounding techniques, and compliance in financial workflows.
• Collaborate with product, data, and backend teams to access real-time data.
