Job summary

Deloitte is seeking a Senior Agentic AI Engineer to design, build, and operate LLM- and SLM-powered agentic systems for healthcare decisioning across payers, providers, and life sciences. You will own architecture, orchestration, and production deployment from day one.

You lead end-to-end RAG pipelines, memory/context management, safety controls, and production-grade tooling, partnering with clinical experts to deliver reliable, auditable, compliant workflows that improve care decisions at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated depth building and shipping production agentic systems with strong software/ML fundamentals.
• Experience with LangGraph/LangChain or equivalent, including custom orchestration.
• Experience designing end-to-end RAG systems: indexing, retrieval, grounding, evaluation.
• Strong memory/context management and retrieval-driven context assembly.
• Deep understanding of LLM behavior, latency, and cost trade-offs.
• Experience evaluating and debugging agent behavior with trajectory analysis.
• Proficiency in Python and modern software practices (CI/CD, testing, version control).
• Hands-on experience with frontier model platforms and/or self-hosted models.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement agentic systems capable of multi-step reasoning, planning, tool use, and workflow execution.
• Build stateful workflows using LangGraph and LangChain with branching, retries, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
• Engineer for long-horizon reliability and robust tool use when steps fail.
• Develop the reasoning behind regulated decisions with auditable rationales.
• Create end-to-end Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines and grounding strategies.
• Engineer memory and context management and token-efficient context selection.
• Implement observability, tracing for prompts, tool calls, and production behavior.
• Apply safety controls, guardrails, and failure-handling to reduce hallucinations.
