Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to design, build, and operate tooling that accelerates AFSS compliance programs. You will own end-to-end solutions, from code to pipelines and integrations, using modern tooling and AI where appropriate to automate evidence collection and data organization, while compliance specialists retain ownership of controls and decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes.
• Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant software in production.
• Experience with security frameworks, identity and access controls, incident response, cloud computing and security, AI security, threat intelligence, and penetration testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate automation and tooling that eliminates manual compliance work.
• Apply AI tooling hands-on to automate compliance workflows and improve accuracy at scale.
• Write, review, and maintain production-quality code and design systems, pipelines, APIs, and integrations.
• Force-multiply the compliance team by building tools that expand scope and reduce manual tasks.
• Integrate with compliance libraries and security assurance systems while ensuring data sovereignty.
• Build tooling for government cloud environments and FedRAMP/air-gapped regions.
• Develop fluency in audit programs (SOX, FedRAMP, ISO, SOC 2) to credibly present automated systems to auditors.
• Partner with security, compliance, legal, and product to translate requirements into engineered solutions.
• Instrument, monitor, and improve the reliability of the compliance automation.
