Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior structural engineer to lead advanced structural analyses across design phases for aerospace products. You will apply FEM/FEA methods and industry-standard tools, guiding junior staff and coordinating with suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities include documenting results, presenting feasibility and risk assessments, and supporting continuous improvement aligned with AS9100. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• 8 years of engineering experience or 5 years with an advanced degree.
• 4 years of structural analysis experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• English communication skills (read, write, speak) for customer/supervisor communication.
• Aerospace industry experience preferred.
• Gas turbine experience preferred.
• Experience with ANSYS, Workbench, NX, CAD and FEA preferred.
• Strong problem-solving using FEM for stress/deflection, vibration and fracture mechanics preferred.
• Experience managing projects or processes preferred.
• Mentoring and coaching mid-level engineers preferred.
• Travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Execute complex structural analysis using hand calculations and 2D/3D finite element modeling.
• Provide oversight and technical guidance for less experienced engineers and outsourced tasks.
• Perform structural analysis and analytical support through all design phases.
• Support manufacturing and operational services.
• Conduct strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, residual life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses.
• Support production and in-service field investigations.
• Document analyses and present results and recommendations to integrated product teams, management and customers.
• Participate in multidisciplinary integrated product teams as the structures expert.
• Develop and sustain work relationships with peers and internal and external customers.
• Attend required meetings, teleconferences and training.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using CORE tools and support AS9100 efforts.
• Support structures community initiatives.
• Support other duties/functions based on business needs.
