Job summary

M4 Engineering, Inc. in Long Beach, CA seeks an experienced Senior Aerospace Design Engineer to design mechanical and structural systems and oversee projects from concept to production.

You will perform basic FEA and hand calculations, coordinate across disciplines, lead design reviews, and prepare GD&T-ready drawings per ASME Y14.5. You will maintain BOMs, verify fabrication and assembly, and ensure manufacturability and quality throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years mechanical design experience.
• Experience with airplane structural design principles.
• Proficient in CAD (NX preferred) and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical and structural systems per requirements.
• Perform basic FEA and hand calculations to optimize design.
• Modify designs for cost and manufacturability.
• Coordinate with structures, materials, and aerodynamics teams.
• Lead design reviews and present findings.
• Define verification methods and participate in testing.
• Ensure fabrication, assembly, and installation meet quality expectations.
• Prepare manufacturing drawings to ASME Y14.5 standards using GD&T.
• Maintain BOMs and document design iterations.
