Job summary

Fairwinds Technologies, LLC is seeking an experienced Configuration Manager to lead CM activities for a military aircraft modernization program focused on avionics, software releases, baselines, and documentation. This supervisory role oversees CM plan development, baselines, and governance across engineering, quality, program management, and government stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has 9+ years in CM, 5+ years in aerospace/defense, and strong experience with ECPs, CSA, FCA, PCA,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or related field.
9+ years of Configuration Management experience.
5+ years supporting aerospace, aircraft modification, mission systems, avionics, defense, or military programs.
Experience managing hardware and software baselines in a regulated engineering environment.
Experience with ECPs, Configuration Status Accounting, FCA, PCA, Requirements Traceability, and Technical Data Management.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain Configuration Management Plan, processes and procedures per ISO 9001, AS9100, contractual requirements, and customer standards.
Establish, maintain, and control system Baselines (Functional, Allocated, and Product).
Ensure configuration control of aircraft modifications, mission systems, software, firmware, and documentation.
Lead Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities and coordinate decisions across stakeholders.
Manage configuration lifecycle from design through integration, test, production, installation, and final acceptance.
Manage ECPs, RFVs, NCs, and SCNs.
Coordinate review and approval workflows with engineering, quality, program management, subcontractors, and government reps.
Generate configuration status reports and provide metrics to leadership.
Plan and support Functional and Physical Configuration Audits and develop audit packages.
Ensure as-designed, as-built, and as-delivered configurations are documented and reconciled.
Support customer and government audit activities.
Serve as the focal point for technical and program data management activities.
Establish and maintain Data Accession Lists and technical data repositories.
Ensure proper document release, revision control, archival, distribution, and retention.
Support requirements management with IBM DOORS or equivalent tools.
Support requirements reviews and technical design reviews.
Ensure compliance with DoD CM requirements, AS9100, ISO 9001, airworthiness certification, and contractual deliverables.
