Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking an Advanced Rigger for an upcoming TAR in Old Ocean, TX. This non-exempt role reports to the Site Manager / Area Safety Manager and is an 8-month assignment with shifts to be determined.

Responsibilities include assembling rigging for lifting, selecting and attaching rigging components, directing crane operators, and setting up hoisting equipment. Certifications (NCCER Advanced Gold Card or NCCCO Rigging 1 & 2) are required; drug and safety screenings apply.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in rigging or related mechanical work.
• Written pre-employment qualification test.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Hazard Communication orientation/test.
• Turner Industries indoctrination.
• OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87).
• Job site orientation.
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).
• Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the work place.

Responsibilities

• Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material on construction projects.
• Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load.
• Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps.
• Attaches load with grappling devices to crane hook; directs equipment operator in hoisting and moving loads for safety.
• Sets up, braces and rigs hoisting equipment; splices rope and wire to repair slings and tackles.
• Directs workers during hoisting of machinery into ships, railroad cars or trucks.
