Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace seeks a Senior Advanced Controls Engineer in Torrance, CA, to advance manufacturing through control systems and automation technologies. This on-site role reports to the leadership team and focuses on production efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.

You will design and deploy Ignition SCADA/HMI applications, develop PLC logic, and integrate with SQL databases. Strong experience with PLC platforms and Python scripting is expected, along with a passion for innovation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (engineering, science, math).
• Proven experience in advanced manufacturing engineering with focus on control systems and automation technologies.
• Experience with Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and HMI development environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and support industrial control systems and automation solutions.
• Configure and deploy Ignition SCADA/HMI applications in the production shop.
• Develop Ignition projects including operator interfaces, dashboards, alarms, trends, and reporting.
• Configure Ignition Gateway services, tags, UDTs, tag history, alarms, security and database connections.
• Develop PLC control logic and integrate PLCs with Ignition using OPC UA and industrial protocols.
• Work with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, or equivalent.
• Develop and troubleshoot Python scripting within Ignition for automation, data processing, and application functionality.
• Integrate Ignition with SQL databases and develop queries for production data, downtime, quality, and monitoring.
• Support deployment of Ignition apps across development, test, and production environments.
• Perform commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and validation of automated equipment and control systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI/SCADA, networking, instrumentation, communications, and database issues.
• Develop reusable Ignition templates, UDTs, scripts, and standards to improve scalability.

As a Senior Advanced Controls Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a pivotal role in advancing manufacturing processes through innovative control systems and automation technologies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, deploy, and support industrial control systems and automation solutions.
• Configure and deploy Ignition Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)/ Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications in the production shop.
• Develop Ignition projects including operator interfaces, dashboards, alarms, trends, and reporting.
• Configure Ignition Gateway services, tags, User-Defined Types (UDTs), tag history, alarm pipelines, security, and database connections.
• Develop PLC control logic and integrate PLCs with Ignition using Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) and industrial communication protocols.
• Utilize experience with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation , Siemens , or equivalent.
• Develop and troubleshoot Python scripting within Ignition for automation, data processing, and application functionality.
• Integrate Ignition with SQL databases and develop queries for production data, equipment status, downtime, quality, and process monitoring.
• Support deployment of Ignition applications across development, test, and production environments.
• Perform c ommissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and validation of automated equipment and control systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI/SCADA, networking, instrumentation, communication, and database-related issues.
• Develop reusable Ignition templates, UDTs, scripts, and standards to improve scalability and maintainability.

YOU MUST HAVE

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and DCS platforms.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
• Proven experience in advanced manufacturing engineering with a focus on control systems and automation technologies.
• Experience with programming languages and tools relevant to controls engineering such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and HMI development environments.
• Ability to analyze and interpret manufacturing data to drive process improvements and operational excellence.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $156,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
