Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Senior Engineer in Rocky Mount, NC, to optimize production processes, apply cutting‑edge manufacturing technologies, and lead continuous improvement efforts on the shop floor.

You will drive cost reductions, ensure process capability, and mentor technicians while collaborating with multiple disciplines to deliver high‑quality, reliable products for customers worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• 5+ years in advanced manufacturing engineering, process optimization, lean manufacturing.
• Proficiency with automation, robotics, and additive manufacturing.
• Experience with data analysis and SPC to drive improvements.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and manufacturing execution systems (MES/SAP).
• Lean Six Sigma or similar process-improvement framework.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize production processes to improve yield and reduce costs.

Job description

As an Advanced Manufacturing Sr Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a vital role in optimizing and advancing our manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency. You will leverage your expertise in advanced manufacturing technologies and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation in our operations.

You will report directly to our Director of Engineering and you'll work out of our location on an on‑site work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the operational excellence of our manufacturing processes by implementing advanced strategies and technologies that improve product quality and reduce costs. Your contributions will help maintain Honeywell’s leadership in delivering innovative, high‑quality products to our customers worldwide.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Own process capability and control for critical welding, brazing, mechanical and electrical assembly of LVDTs, and Solenoids.
• Be a leader for daily floor support to drive process adherence, stability, and standard work; partner with operations for robust handoffs and continuity across shifts.
• Analyze production data (FPY, Cp/Cpk, OEE, escapes) to identify systemic issues; lead RCCA and implement corrective actions to achieve sustained yield improvement.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and APQP tools to assembly and test processes (PFMEA/DFMEA, control plans, MSA, SPC) to prevent defects and reduce variation.
• Lead capacity improvement projects (layout, takt/cycle balance, tooling/fixturing, automation opportunities) aligned to rate readiness and safety.
• Be the Special Process Owner for laser welding, manual welding, and brazing ensuring NADCAP compliance through process ownership and quality control.
• Engage customers/programs on technical topics (process capability, test data, change control) and represent Rocky Mount in cross‑site technical forums.
• Provide coaching and training for technicians/engineers; develop work instructions, training plans, and certification matrices.

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
• Minimum of 5+ years of proven experience in advanced manufacturing engineering, process optimization, and lean manufacturing principles.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing technologies, including automation, robotics, traditional manufacturing, and additive manufacturing.
• Experience with data analysis and statistical process control to drive process improvements.
• Proficiency in using advanced manufacturing tools and software to enhance production efficiency and quality.
• Expertise in implementing advanced manufacturing technologies and tools such as automation systems, CAD/CAM software, and manufacturing execution systems.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement frameworks.
• Proficiency in time management and business level prioritization.

• Strong knowledge of DFMEA/PFMEA, APQP, MRL progression, PPAP, and IPDS/Flawless Launch processes.
