Job summary

Johnston County Department of Social Services in Smithfield, NC is seeking an Adult Services Social Worker III for Adult Protective Services to investigate abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults aged 18 and over, and to arrange protective services and supports.

The role requires strong interviewing, assessment, and coordination with family and community partners, with on-call duties and the ability to manage complex cases while maintaining the least restrictive living arrangements.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work.
• Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work with related experience.
• Ability to obtain background checks and interview adults with varied functioning.

Responsibilities

• Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation for adults 18+.
• Determine protective actions and coordinate services to ensure safety.
• Plan counseling and arrange appropriate community or institutional care.
• Prepare reports and testify in hearings when needed.
• Provide in-home guidance to maintain the adult in the least restrictive setting.
