Job summary

Allen Media Digital, the technology arm behind Weather Channel apps, seeks a Senior AdTech Engineer to lead redesigns of our adtech stack for premium CTV apps. You will optimize ad-serving infrastructure, reduce technical debt, and drive advanced ad feature rollouts for a high-volume U.S.

traffic footprint. The role requires 7+ years in backend/distributed systems, strong Go/Node.js skills, and deep ad-tech experience with RTB, SSAI, and VAST/VMAP.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in backend / distributed-systems engineering, with at least 3–4 of those years specifically in ad tech
• Proven experience within Connected TV ad-serving environments and native TV platforms (Roku, Fire TV, Android TV, Smart TVs)
• Strong programmatic background with deep familiarity in Real-Time Bidding (RTB), header bidding, and identity resolution solutions (UID2, RampID)
• Hands-on experience with core AWS services, particularly AWS MediaTailor, CloudWatch, and serverless microservices (AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Run)
• Deep familiarity with leading ad servers and SSP architectures (SpringServe, Publica, FreeWheel, GAM)
• Mastery of video streaming protocols (HLS / DASH) and advertising standards (OpenRTB, VAST, VMAP, VPAID, SCTE-35)
• Experience with data-rich and contextual solutions such as identity graphs, clean rooms, Iris.TV, or Peer39
• Engineering Discipline: Go and Node.js in production services; Go concurrency patterns; caching design principles

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership, scoping, architectural mapping for the 2.0 adtech platform redesign
• Lead validation of monetization initiatives including interactive ad units and client-side beacon migrations
• Design, build, and maintain custom code across the ad-tech stack including backend services and data pipelines
• Serve as the primary technical lead for integrating DSPs and SSPs
• Design, maintain, and optimize SSAI workflows using AWS MediaTailor while coordinating CSAI across Roku and Fire TV
• Configure, validate, and troubleshoot ad-decisioning endpoints using VAST, VMAP, SCTE-35
• Monitor and analyze operational analytics to identify bottlenecks in the ad delivery pipeline
• Maintain privacy and consent workflows compliant with CCPA/CPRA, GPP, and state standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external ad-tech vendors to resolve delivery discrepancies
• Absorb architecture from an external AdTech partner to take over ongoing maintenance
