Job summary

UCI Health in California seeks an Authorization Specialist responsible for obtaining authorizations, verifying eligibility, and generating authorization letters. You will respond to Member Services inquiries and resolve authorization issues in line with guidelines.

Candidates should have at least 1 year of recent hospital or clinic registration experience, knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes, and strong English communication. Experience with Epic and MS Office is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of recent experience registering patients in a hospital or clinic (or working as a Medical Assistant or in medical billing).
• General understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Must be able to travel to off site physician practices.
• Knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes.

Responsibilities

• Obtain all necessary authorizations in accordance with guidelines.
• Verify eligibility and obtain benefit information.
• Generate letters for authorizations.
• Respond to Member Services inquiries and resolve authorization issues.
