Job summary

CareSource is seeking a Managing Actuary to provide leadership and direction to achieve team goals. You will lead a small team of actuaries, manage pricing, forecasting and reserves, and own core actuarial processes for multiple lines of business.

Strong SQL/SAS/Python skills and healthcare experience are highly valued. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, ASA certification, and 2–3 years of management and actuarial experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics or related field.
• ASA certification is required; FSA preferred.
• 2–3 years of management experience is preferred.
• 2–3 years of actuarial experience is preferred.
• Strong experience with SQL, SAS or Access and healthcare knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of actuaries ensuring compliance with Actuarial Standards of Practice and support training and development.
• Responsible for pricing, forecasting, reserving and development of key assumptions; evaluate financial experience and drivers.
• Develop and communicate strategic recommendations to leadership to support company goals.
• Manage actuarial models for reports, reserves, accruals, rate filings and contracting models.
• Own actuarial processes (rate filings, pricing, forecasting, reserving) with internal and external partners.
• Perform baseline analyses on rate change expectations and support rate filings with agencies.
• Oversee development and review of IBNR reserves for CareSource lines monthly.
