Job Description

The Old Mutual Legacy and Product Management Team is seeking a suitably qualified individual for a Senior Actuarial Specialist role. The team is responsible for product management and performance of both savings and income closed products in the Old Mutual retail market.

This exciting opportunity offers exposure to a blend of technical and business issues. The role requires a technically sound individual who can collaborate effectively with various teams and stakeholders at all levels. The incumbent will manage a suite of closed retail products, including reversionary bonus policies, universal life products, unit trusts, and other modern investment solutions. These products have significant assets under management and serve over half a million customers.

As the regulatory environment and industry standards evolve, the successful candidate will ensure the product suite remains compliant and competitive. The role demands adaptability, collaborative spirit, and executional excellence across diverse stakeholders, including senior management, marketing, client servicing, IT, legal, and compliance.

The primary focus will be supporting strategically significant projects, managing smaller projects, and handling BAU activities. This includes process and system innovation, as well as facilitating the onboarding of new closed product ranges.

Role Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

• Actuarial student with at least 10 credits and a minimum of 2 years actuarial experience. (Senior Actuarial student / Actuarial student progressing well with exams / Nearly qualified actuary with substantial experience)
• Product experience is advantageous.
• Self-starter with initiative, capable of driving projects independently.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.

The appointment may be at a lower role level depending on exam progress and experience.
