Job description

Sentara Health is currently seeking a full-time remote Senior Actuarial Analyst.

Remote opportunities are available in the following states: Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Standard Working Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Overview

The Senior Actuarial Analyst will support the actuarial team by conducting advanced data analysis and providing insights for strategic decision-making in a healthcare organization. Responsibilities include actuarial modeling, risk assessment, financial forecasting related to healthcare products, services, and operations. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams including finance, underwriting, and clinical departments to ensure accurate pricing, risk management, and performance monitoring. Additionally, the individual will assist in regulatory compliance reporting and enhance predictive models to improve healthcare outcomes and cost efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain actuarial models for pricing and financial forecasting of healthcare products and services.
  • Perform risk assessments and financial projections to evaluate the financial health of healthcare plans.
  • Provide in-depth analysis of claims data, utilization patterns, and healthcare costs to support decision-making.
  • Assist in developing pricing strategies for insurance products, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with underwriting to assess risks and recommend adjustments in pricing models.
  • Monitor and report on health plan performance, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare actuarial reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Support new healthcare initiatives, ensuring actuarial insights are integrated into planning.
  • Mentor junior staff, providing guidance on best practices and methodologies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and new actuarial methodologies.
Education & Experience

Certification / Licensure: No specific requirements

Experience: At least 3 years of related experience

Compensation & Benefits

Market-competitive packages including base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base salary ranges from $69,742.40 to $116,254.20. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, overtime, bonuses, etc.
